“Social Unity of Benevolent Initiatives for Championing Human Rights” (SUBICHAR) Trust is a non profit initiative for upholding human rights and making justice accessible to the grassroots.

Our work focuses on criminal justice and constitutional matters to protect and uphold the human rights of the poor and marginalized in Bangladesh. Our activities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Providing effective legal support to the needy, marginalized and poor people in the form of legal representation before all the courts of Bangladesh, including (but not limited to) the Supreme Court, District & Sessions Judge Court, Magistrate’s Court, Tribunal, Disoute Resolution Forums etc. as well as ADR (alternate dispute resultion) in the form of mediation, negotiation anf arbitration (family);
  • Undertaking public interest litigation before the Supreme Court of Bangladesh on pertinent issues;
  • Conducting awareness raising and advocacy activities, including hosting research programs, workshops, cross-talks, round tables, exhibitions, meetings, lectures, and courses on pertinent issues of civil rights, criminal justice and constitutional matters;
  • Conducting review, analysis, monitoring and categorising developments in the legal field, including enactment of new laws, policies as well as judgments of the Supreme Court that may have a significant impact;
  • Organising, developing, assisting in and/or facilitating projects, schemes, studies, feasibility reports, and publication of reports, journals, literature and handbooks in relation to law and justice, social development, social work, human rights and humanitiarian activism;
